As a kiln-formed glass artist I work in a medium with endless possibilities. The colors and contrast in my glasswork span from subtle to vibrant and with the addition of light the pieces literally come to life. Each piece of Housby Glass is uniquely designed and individually crafted by hand.

I start by cutting large sheets of glass which can be layered or combined with pre-fired elements before heating a multiple of times in a kiln. Kiln temperatures range from 1100-1650 degrees depending on the process or effect I am trying to achieve, many pieces are fired 3-5+times. The glass is also manipulated using various techniques when cold which include sandblasting, grinding, cutting on a wet tile saw and also when hot by combing the molten glass or shifting a piece as it is settling into a mold. I also use the technique of glass flows which allows the glass to shift and move when hot.

I continue to learn new techniques and stretch my imagination by taking Master Level classes from world renowned glass artists such as Karl Harron, Richard Parish, Nathan Sandberg and Silvia Levenson. Incorporating a broad spectrum of techniques in my art helps expand my perspective so my work is everchanging and also makes each piece of Housby Glass one of a kind.
